The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle, offers an 83 bed acute care facility, a state-of-the-art kidney dialysis facility and many other specialty services and clinics throughout the area.

Recreational activities are endless and offer year round opportunities in the midst of exceptional beauty. Within a two hour commute of Loring, Mt. Katahdin in Baxter State Park marks the end of the famed Appalachian Trail. Hiking and camping venues offer a new view everywhere you turn and Maine's over 2,000 freshwater lakes, streams, rivers and ponds are world-renowned for salmon and trout fishing. The thrilling Allagash Wilderness Waterway, offers white water rafting, canoeing, fishing and camping expeditions. Also close at hand are six area golf courses, several downhill ski areas and miles of cross-country ski trails. Extensive recreational and competitve skiing programs are offered through the Maine Winter Sports Center. Aroostook County is also a major tourist destination for snowmobile enthusiasts throughout the country who take advantage of the more than 1,500 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, which have been rated the third best in the nation.
