Aroostook County boasts a dedicated, skilled and
available workforce. The region's low
unemployment rate doesn't reflect the thousands
of underemployed people living in Aroostook
County. Many people trained in a number of
fields were displaced when Loring Air Force Base
closed, and now work in jobs that don't fully
utilize their extensive technical experience, job
skills and education levels.
Maine Quality Centers program, offered through
nearby Northern Maine Community College,
provides specialized training for workers in new
or expanding businesses at no cost to qualifying
employers. It is just one of many workforce
training programs available. |
